Driver Guideline

If you plan to become a YEEX driver, there are specific requirements and guidelines to ensure you meet YEEX standards and provide a great experience for riders. Here's a guideline for YEEX drivers:

7. Payment and Earnings:

  1. Trip Fares: Fares are calculated based on distance, time, and demand (surge pricing). Review how YEEX calculates fares in your city to understand your earnings.

  2. Tips: Riders can tip you through the app or in cash. Tips are not mandatory, but they can significantly increase your earnings.

  3. Payout Schedule: YEEX usually pays drivers on a weekly basis, though you can set up instant payouts if needed.

  4. Expenses: Track your expenses, including gas, maintenance, and car insurance, as you are responsible for these costs.

1. Driver Requirements:

  1. Age: You must meet the minimum age requirement to drive in your city, which is usually 21 years old, though this may vary by location.

  2. Driving License: You need a valid driving license that permits you to drive legally in your city or country. It must be up-to-date and clean (no serious traffic violations).

  3. Driving Experience: You must have at least one year of licensed driving experience (or three years if you’re under 25).

  4. Background Check: YEEX will run a background check, which includes a criminal record review and your driving history. You may not qualify if you have a history of major traffic violations, criminal offences, or DUI..

  5. Car Insurance: Your car must be insured, and you must be listed as a covered driver on the policy. YEEX requires all drivers to have personal vehicle insurance.

  6. Vehicle Documents: You must have valid documentation, such as;

  • Valid Nigerian driver’s license

  • Valid LASDRI card (Lagos only)

  • Minimum of 21 years of age

  • Driver profile photo

  • Safety screening and virtual info session

2. Vehicle Requirements:

  1. Vehicle Age: The car must meet the age requirement set by YEEX, which varies by city (usually, cars must be less than 10-15 years old).

  2. Car Condition: The car should be in good working condition, with no cosmetic damage or mechanical issues.

  3. Inspection: Your car will need to pass an annual inspection to ensure it meets local vehicle safety standards. Some regions require a vehicle inspection report before you start driving.

  4. Four Doors: The vehicle must have at least four doors and be able to seat at least four passengers (excluding the driver).

  5. No Commercial Branding: The vehicle cannot have any commercial branding, advertisements, or markings.

3. Setting Up the YEEX Driver App:

  1. Smartphone: You must have a smartphone that can run the YEEX Driver app. The app will be your main tool for accepting and completing ride requests.

  2. YEEX Profile: Set up your YEEX driver profile with accurate information, including your name, photo, and vehicle details. This will be visible to riders.

  3. Bank Account Set-up: Link your bank account to your YEEX driver profile to receive payments for your rides.

4. Driving Guidelines:

  1. Timeliness: Arrive on time to pick up passengers, and avoid cancelling rides unless absolutely necessary.

  2. Safe Driving: Always follow traffic laws, speed limits, and avoid aggressive driving. Ensure that your car is safe, and you have the seat belts available for all passengers.

  3. No Distracted Driving: Do not use your phone while driving except for navigation and YEEX notifications. Keep your attention on the road.

  4. Car Maintenance: Regularly maintain your vehicle, including oil changes, tire checks, and brake repairs, to avoid mechanical issues during rides.

5. Customer Service and Professionalism:

  1. Politeness and Respect: Treat all passengers with respect. Greet them when they enter, and remain professional throughout the trip.

  2. Cleanliness: Keep your vehicle clean, both inside and out. Riders expect a tidy environment.

  3. Assistance: Offer assistance if needed, such as helping with luggage or offering to adjust the temperature or music.

  4. No Unwanted Conversation: Respect the rider's preference for conversation. Some riders prefer quiet, while others may want to chat.

6. Navigating and Completing Rides:

  1. Use Navigation: Use GPS navigation to get to the destination efficiently. The YEEX app suggests the best route, but you can adjust based on traffic conditions or the rider's preference.

  2. Confirm Details: When picking up a passenger, verify their name to ensure you're picking up the correct rider.

  3. End of Trip: Once the ride is complete, rate the rider, and the rider will also rate you. High ratings improve your standing and can result in more ride requests.

8. Driver Safety:

  1. Verify Passengers: Always verify the identity of the passenger before starting the ride. Check the rider’s name to make sure you’re picking up the correct person.

  2. Safe Locations: Only pick up and drop off passengers in safe, well-lit areas.

  3. Report Incidents: If you experience any safety issues or inappropriate behaviour from passengers, report it to YEEX immediately through the app.
